Burma Vacation Suggestions

Planning to spend 7 days in Burma in September and would like see Rangoon, Bagan and Mandalay (travelling with wife and 14 year old daughter). Any suggestions on transportation, places to stay and see, etc is appreciated. Cheers.

Travel in Burma is slow. While you might be able to touch ground in all three of those places in 7 days, I don't think you would enjoy it much. Two locations will be pushing it. I'd suggest you pause and consider what you want to see most.

Yes travel is slow but Bagan is certainly a must a beautiful place. an interesting trip from Yangon is to the holy rock at Kyaiktiyo. A temple atop a high mountain with a gold rock teetering on the edge, you can stay at the top.

I will be in Burma for 8 days and have set up the entire trip with a guide and car. Staying in Yangon for a short time and then flying to Mandalay. From there we will make our way to Bagan. Then traveling towards Yangon with some of the sights along the way. Im using Myanmartravel for everything and they have been great so far.Seeing as much as possible ,who knows when ill ever be back.

I would not miss the Inle Lake area. Much more interesting than the cities. It's where you can get a real sense of the people.

Bagan is fine if you really care about archeology but what makes Burma so special is the people and they have been moved out of Bagan. Mandalay is interesting for crafts but Inle Lake and the Shan State is really memorable.
