Mansions at Roppongi or Crowne Plaza Metropolitan?

I've narrowed my options down to two hotels in Tokyo for a trip later this month. These are the Crowne Plaza in Ikebukuro or Mansions at Roppongi.

There are 4 of us, so we need 2 rooms in a normal hotel. From what I've read, I can get 2 rooms at Crowne Plaza through Priceline for $95 each (about $110 including tax). Mansions seems to cost about $250 per night for a room for 4.

From what I can tell, Roppongi is a better area and this is a good hotel.

Any advice?....thanks!

I was at the Crowne Plaza Metropolitan for two nights in January. Got it through priceline bid of $97. Taxes and fees for the two nights totalled $40.06.

The hotel is ok. The room was like a nice business hotel room (meaning a fairly small room with a small bathroom unit). The room had a double bed which I think is too small for two people (I am 6'3&quot. Free internet in a small room off the lobby, busy but you can usually get a seat at one of the 8 or 9 puters. Overpriced restaurant off the lobby. Some restaurants nearby including a Doutor (good coffee, bagel & egg sandwiches).

The hotel is across the street from Ikebukuro station (JR and maybe some other lines; has infrequent Narita Express service). So it is relatively convenient for getting around Tokyo but I don't think it is a place that people visit (i.e. from Ikebukuro you might go to Roppongi for fun, but not vice versa).

I haven't stayed at the Mansions but it has gotten good reviews by others on this forum and I think that it is relatively convenient (a short uphill walk from the JR station? maybe).

My advice is to check the room size and, especially, the bed sizes. I would wager that the Mansions would come out ahead.
