Maiton Island or Krabi

Has anyone had experiance staying at this resort ? What sort of rating would you give it ? Are the staff friendly.
Are the meals expensive ?
I don't know if we should look at this Island or go to Krabi next Feb.
Maybe Pimalai Resort Krabi. Krabi Thai Village looks like it is quite a long distance to the beach ?
Please help...

Hello,
We stayed at the Krabi thai village in april this year. It,s a lovely hotel, about 7 mins walk from the main ao nang beach where all the resturants are .You can catch longtail boats from here out to the islands. The other beach ,nappharet thara [not sure of correct spelling]is part of the national park ,and is about the same distance from the hotel, but is mainly used by locals[it,s very quiet].Saw some amazing sunsets from this beach

i asked about Maiton Island on travelforum.org and got the following response:"An Italian tour company bought it and sub divided all the large rooms into smaller rooms. More guests, lower quality. But the bank manager is happy."

Pimalai looks nice but I don't think Lanta is the most scenic island. I think I'll go to Rayavadee, although very expensive, it looks like the setting is unbeatable.
First of all, try Thailand's officail web site at tat.or.th You'll get big help there.
Personally, I recommend Karbi. There're lots of great beaches and reasonable resorts. The most populars are in Ao Nang, Ao Pra Nang, Ao Railay. (Ao means a bay). Not to mention excursions like kayaking around Ao Ta Len and trips to nearby islands such as PP, Lanta.

My family and I went to Maiton Resort a few years ago. There were Italian, Taiwanese and Japanese tourists squeezing into the only white-sand beach. There are 3 different resturants of your choice; Thai, Sea food and International. The food was not ok if compared to the price. I spent only 3 nights there. It costed about USD 400. Try their web site at maitonresort.com

Also, try rayavadee.com They've just renovated so the place is much more stunning. (so do the price which ranges about USD 900-1,200 and reaches USD 3,000 at villas). You'll find Hollywood celebraties there.
