There are quite a few good choices mentioned on Tripadvisor. I've enjoyed the Villa Hue: it's the training place for a local hotel school so they want you to actively exercise the students: ask questions, do your laundry, order cocktails, take dinner there, etc. The students are charming but obviously inexperienced. Their teachers help out when necessary, and are *very* good. It's conveniently located and very comfortable, on a par with a high-end western hotel: http://www.villahue.com/

Another recommendation for La Residence. It is maybe a 10 min walk from the town but worth it as it is arguably the best place to stay in Hue. Great Art Deco architecture and style and good food if a little expensive. The Saigon Morin is the other 5* place in town but was looking a bit tired the last time I was there.

I don't know your purpose to be in Hue but if for leisure there is not all that much there. You may wish to consider Hoi An, about half an hour south -- walkable and cute as a button with lots of options. I was in both a month ago and for me at least, no real need to have been in Hue.
