Lodging in Kamakura , Hakone, and Kawaguchigo

My husband and I will be in these areas in early April, as I have posted earlier. Have decided that we will spend 2 nights in Kamakura, 3 in Hakone and 1 in Kawaguchigo

Now we are looking for lodging suggestions. I see that they are all pretty expensive but would want to stay under $300/night. Is that even possible ?

We would like to splurge for a few nights in one of these locations in a ryokan and if necessary could exceed that cost. With so may choices and all at such a premium , would appreciate some suggestions.

Ease of access from train station and sights would be important. We do not mind walking.
In Kamakura we would like to see the temples and also go to Enoshima.

Would staying in Gora make access to sights and hiking in Hakone cumbersome ?

We would be arriving to Kawaguchigo from Hakone. Wondering if there is a ryokan that we can splurge for one night , or should we do the splurge in Hakone ?

Thank you !

We enjoyed LaLaCa in Hakone (gora). Small, personal, clean, excellent food. Under ¥15,000 per person including dinner and breakfast. IMO a fantastic value easy location for hakone sightseeing.

Gora is an ideal base for touring Hakone. Gora Park and the Hakone Open Air Museum are both just a few minutes away, you've got access to lots of transportation options, and the town itself is pleasant enough and tourist-friendly.

Thank you KimJapan and rizzuto.

I am glad to hear you both second Gora as a good base for Hakone so I feel more confident about it now. Is LaLaCa a modern ryokan ? It's an interesting name. I will look at their website.

Any recommendations for Kawaguchigo and Kamakura or Enoshima ?

As a general rule, are the full meal plans at traditional ryokans a good value ? Would we do better eating outside of the lodging, especially in some towns ?

We stayed here in Kawaguchi-ko and loved it.
Konanso has a spectacular view of Fujisan from some of their rooms, ask for the view rooms. We had the deluxe room and bath shown with the rotenburo on our balcony with the gorgeous view of Fujisan. Nice little towns and many hikes around the Five Lakes area along with an amusement park, lol.

We also like staying in Gora when in the Hakone area. Our hotel of choice is the Hyatt in Gora but as mentioned before their are many other places to choose from. Do a search on Hakone hotels on Fodors site. See here too

Was Gora easy to get around ? It looks beautiful in the pictures ,surrounded by trees and mountains. I hope early to mid-April is a good time to be there.

Feeling a bit frustrated about not being able to access an English website for Lalaca Ryokan. I am finding Rakuten's website helpful, however, for other lodgings, including Setsugetsuka. For 36000 yen per day per couple maybe it is a reasonable choice ?
