Laundry prices in Siem Reap/ HDLP?
We are staying at Hotel de la Paix and they offer same-day laundry service. We'll probably need some laundry done by the time we get there. What are the ballpark costs-- any idea?
We really need to pack light!
Thanks.

We had laundry done at the Victoria, which has pricing probably similar. It was about $40.00 for a couple of day's worth for 2 people.
Ponheary's family also did some laundry for us....2 huge bagfuls, about 5 days worth I think. It cost $6.00.
The only difference was that the Victoria used more perfumey soap so it smelled a lot. From Ponheary, it was not so smelling, but was clean and ironed, even underwear.

You don't have to use the hotel laundry. Some places the hotel laundry is reasonably priced, others it is not. If the hotel prices are outrageus, use a local laundry (they all have same-day service in my experience). In Kota Kinabalu, the hotel laundry would have cost us something like US$140 for all the laundry from our stay in the rainforest. A local laundry cost under US$20.

Thank you Kim and Kathie!
We will be with Ponheary for 3 days (touring the temples and working with her schools) so I will ask her if she knows of someone who can help us or if she can make other recommendations. I didn't even think of asking her, so thank you again.

We didn't actually ask her to do our laundry...we asked her if we could go to a laundry that she knew to avoid hotel prices, and she said that there were plenty of people of home who could do it for us so why didn't we do that...she took it in the afternoon and returned it in the morning two days later - about 36 hours. We used the hotel once because we needed it done same day, otherwise we wouldn't have spent that much.

I will ask her the same question you did... She is picking us up from the airport on Monday night and we don't depart until Thursday night, so we should have plenty of time to have it done at a non-hotel location.
