Krabi Hotels?

Hi all,

We are staying for 5 nights in Krabi (before we head off to Phuket)in March 07. But am finding it difficult to get any reviews on a great hotel.
I'm reading a lot about hotels and each one seems to have good and bad points. I can't seem to find one or two hotels that people absolutely rave about. So I need help.

I've heard such great things about Krabi so would definately like to stay there.
We would like to stay near a beach (Ao Nang beach? Is it really not a good beach?)

Looking for a good quality 4/5 star hotel. Somewhere were we can walk to the Ao Nang town for restaurants. Somewhere thats near or on a beach but not too far walk away from th beach.

Please help stop the confusion of what hotel to stay in?

Thanks,

Claudia

If you do a search on this forum you will see several posts that cover this question along with great recommendations.

We stayed at the Sunrise Tropical Resort on East Railay in Feb. and I have raved about it on this forum and elsewhere! It is spectacular!

It will be nearly impossible to find a place that has 100% raves. You will always find one person that will complain no matter what.

www.sawadee.com allows you to read the guest reviews.

I have photos of Sunrise Tropical at www.windjammer.smugmug.com. Just go to the Thailand and Cambodia album to view them.

We did not like Ao Nang. We took a day trip over so we could check it out and we were very happy with our decision to stay in Railay. There is more to do on Ao Nang if you like to shop and check out the tour operators but it is not at all picturesque, in my eyes.

You cannot walk from Ao Nang to Railay. The only transport option is via long tail boat but it only takes about 10-15 minutes.

Enjoy your trip!

I would have a look at thre nakamanda, although not walking distance to Ao Nang it's a class resort. It's all villa and superb design, soething quite extraordinary

Aslo for photos you can go straight to:

Some reviews:http://www.res24.com/review/posts.ht...r=nongasia.com

You can see from the map it is though close to Ao Nang.

Also central Krabi bay resort, go to the search as there were some great reviews of it from Fodorites who stayed not so long ago. Also other reviews on

Fistly, No the beach is not so good at Ao Nang. Dont know what you have heard about Krabi but my wife and I found it rather 'tacky'. We stayed at Sheraton Beach Hotel. VERY nice. Short distance away from Krabi but we think that is a bonus. There is a beach at the hotel and a fabulous horizon pool. I don't think this part of Thailand is particularly noted for sea swimming. We do have photos of the above hotel on our website and a link to the hotel. The town is not within walking distance but only a short ride by cab. Also the hotel lays on frequent and free courtesy mini buses

I posted this above but maybe you missed it:

We loved this place! Photos are available through the link I posted above.

Cheers!
