Northern Thailand in early August
I'm planning a trip to Thailand (and possibly Vietnam) at the end of July/early August. Can anyone comment on the weather in Northern Thailand during this time of the year? I've read that there is a lot of rain...but am also finding that is the case almost anywhere during that time period. Would the rain keep us from enjoying the area? Is it a long, steady rain or does the rain roll in and out? Specifically, we are interested in staying at Anantara, which I think is located in Chiang Saen. Is there another area as beautiful that might have better weather? Any insight would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

others who live there can comment better, but many love this time of year...it generally rains hard and then is gone, or it can come back....in late august and september is generally when the damaging rains come...
anantara is fantastic....it is very issolated but i expect that you know that.....why not ask them directly what to expect with the weather....
i think you could work around the rain..
