Kowloon or Eaton hotel?

On my way to India I will have a one night rest at Hong Kong. Will spend a full day at the city. Are the Kowloon and Eaton hotels in a good spot to visit the city. Rates are about $100 for both hotels. Don't want to spend much more. Your comments and any other options are welcome.

Thanks

The Kowloon Hotel is infamous for its small rooms, but it is run by the Peninsula Group, and is in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, right next to MTR station and just a short walk from the Star Ferry, the waterfront promenade, etc...

Meanwhile, the Eaton is in the less touristy Jordan area. It's within walking distance to the Temple Street night market, and not too far from the Mongkok shopping district. If those are very important, then the Eaton might be better, but otherwise I'd take the Kowloon.

Hi

My wife and I stayed at the Kowloon hotel in March last year. The location is good and rooms are small..I have posted a "review" of the hotel in my trip report from Hong Kong which is posted on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com. Maybe you can find some useful information there.

The YMCA Salisbury is in a great location, and for about $100, you should be able to get at least a room with partial harbor view, vs no view from the Eaton or Kowloon. And I have yet to hear a bad comment about the YMCA.

My sister stayed at the Salibury only last month and I don't think she realises how rare and sought after her harbour view was! It's in a fantastic position and the night view of the island is unbelievable! Have a great trip.
