koh samui... help!

Laem Set Inn bungalow suite despite the new owners, Siam Residence(santi beach/lipa noi)two rooms (hopefully connected) sea view despite the tired rooms reputation, or Rajapruek Samui Resort seafront bungalow despite the main hotel'under renovation'?

as you've probably guessed, it's a family holiday including one child and the in-laws. and I, as the globe-trotter (but that was on my own), have got landed with the bookings... any advice welcome.

shallow, clear (snokelling for kids) sea, decent beach is all I ask for!!! and no mock-mediterranean, camp thai shite would be nice...

help?

Laem Set Inn's bungalow suite is lovely, and right on it's own private beach. The beach is sandy, but once in the water there is a lot of broken coral so water shoes are useful.

With one child, I assume you are like us in that you would love it if there were other kids in the place you are staying. Why don't you write directly to all three of them, and maybe include Tongsai Bay and Banburee as well, and ask them about their bookings for the time you'll be there, and their trend for that time of year as well...are children in current bookings and are children generally there at that time of year.

I suspect that in October many places will be far from full, so you could end up being the only guests with kids, or the only guests at all. I know that our daughter would be fine for a couple of days with no kids, but after that, she'd be craving someone close to her own age, so we always ask about other kids.

thanks kimjapan, and you are right on about the kid wanting company after a couple of days. have written to three places but all are (mysteriously!) silent about family with kids bookings for the same period... guess that's the October factor kicking in, but that's the only time we can get away. except Laem set which was honest enough to say their Oct bookings haven't really picked up yet ( one point to them for being straight). couple of concerns about Laem Set apart from the new management though, viz think i'm paying too much given thailand prices and if there are no other kids around, we are really stuck cos' of how (relatively) remote we will be... the new management and price is not a big issue, but being stuck (read no distractions/activities for the child) is!

will write to the two resorts you've mentioned. and do post a message if you hear of anything good, especially when travelling with a child.

cheers,
