Ko Sa Mui, Karbi or Puhket?

If we have 6-7 nights for the "beach" part of our honeymoon in Thailand? Where do people recommend? We could split our time between two of the areas? We are going in February 2015 on our honeymoon. I hear great things about all three areas. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

In February, I'd chose a beach on the Andaman Sea - Phuket, Krabi, Ko Lak, etc. You nay want to make your choice by the hotel you want.

I would go to Krabi. But I always prefer to go to the smaller islands. It depends on what you want and where you stay. I personally don't like Samui or Phuket, as they are very large islands and they don't feel like Thailand for me. I live in Bangkok.
Ko Lak felt like being in a european country to me, lots of package holidayers. Not a lot of Thais there, as they won't visit after the Tsunami, being very supistitious. But I know that some people like it there. It's all dependent on personal tastes.
But if you are just going to stay in hotel and not go out of resort then there are some beautiful hotels in Phuket and Samui I wish you luck.

Gadventure1 - Krabi is not an island! Krabi is a town and a province! Lots of islands in Krabi province.

Thank you all.

I like the suggestions. I was leaning towards Phuket and Krabi which sounds like the best options for us. If we want to do it nice, willing to spend money for the honeymoon. Any suggestions on which ones? I have heard Banyeen Tree? Trisara? Rayvadee?

I like the Amanpuri the best but I have not stayed at most of the resorts there. The Banyan Tree is wonderful but the beach there is not as good some of the other resorts. A lot of resorts don't have direct access to the beach, some are high on the cliffs while only a few have semi private beaches. Note that most beaches in Thailand are public but because of the location of some resorts like the Amanpuri the resort will feel like having a private beach.

From your list, adding the Amanpuri to it I would choose the Amanpuri first and then the Trisara. I have stayed at the Banyan Tree a lot but I don't like the beach there but the villas are very romantic.

I am still trying to get more feedback on this conversation. If we have 7 days in the beach area and are deciding between Phuket, Krabi and Ko Samui what do people suggest?

We understand there are great hotels everywhere. So please focus on the activities and beaches. Where should we stay?

Thanks!

The recommendations so far have all been for Krabi/Phuket. The actives available at both places will be the same. No one has recommended Koh Samui for that time of the year.

so make your decision based on the hotel you want. Other fabulous hotels to consider include Mom Tri's Villa Royale. But it is hard to make recommendations without a per night budget.
