Dogster...can you tell me about the layout of the HDLP's suites....in pictures on their website, it looks like the bathtub is in the center of the room, which strikes me as kind of odd. You don't have your own pictures, do you?

Julies-trust me, your trip sounds FAR more interesting than Angkor-and I'd like to do something like that too, since I had to forego my 2 day Mekong River trip journey last year- you were right to check out those videos of Angkor-smart idea, because then you see what it is you'll be looking at-sameness!

Kim, we stayed in a suite at the Hotel DLP. You are correct in that there is a tub right in the middle of the room. The suites are spacious. There is a large shower area with a fantastic rainfall shower head. Both the living area and the sleeping area are large. The tub is actually in the sleeping area between the bed and the sinks for the bath. We didn't use the tub at all so we wound up draping bathing suits and clothes on it. The toilet is in a separate room. If you are planning on sharing a suite with your kids, keep in mind that the living area and sleeping area are not partitioned very much from one another.

"because then you see what it is you'll be looking at-sameness!" - funny, not at all how I saw Angkor! The Bayon is not at all the same as Angkor Wat, which is different from Ta Prohm, which is different from Bantreay Srei - and that's just the most famous temples. Still, good thing we don't all like the same things.

Hi Julies,
Angkor Wat in Siem is a world heritage site, truly, it's so amazing, very nice and value to visit.
I think you should stay a hotel in Siem Reap, then hire a bike to ride to Angkor wat by yourself, better with a guide. It will be wonderful. It's a world heritage site.
Now in Sapa, Vietnam. Highly recommend you to visit this place as you will withness how the local ethnic minorities live, work , wear , eat even live at your home to see what's going .. for their daily life.
Moreover, Tet's coming. You will see a colorful markets with many people come to buy and sell... very very nice.
We are having many promotion Sapa package on this New year holiday, if you like, please visit our web : vietlandexplore.com or email me.
Thanks and wishing you have a good trip.

Hi Kim,
Craig has given you the basics - yup, it is a bit strange - but isn't that what travel is all about? Probably they are best designed for a couple with perhaps a little more than ruins on their mind...
There are three types of suites [as opposed to normal rooms] I had one on the street side but you can get a garden suite, or one that backs directly on to the swimming pool. The view from the street suites is nothing to write home about, but the rooms are so wonderful I didn't care at all.
I really really liked the place as a whole and, unlike Craig, spent many happy hours in the vast bath fiddling with my en suite Ipod, watching the complimentary DVD's on the TV and generally indulging myself - I was travelling on my own tho' - maybe matters of the bathroom are different if you're a couple....
The D.L.P has a great little deli downstairs with 50% off after 6 p.m. - I often grabbed a meal there and took it up to my room.
Look for the 3 nights for the price of 2 suite deal on their website.
And Mitch - will do.

Thank you Craig and dogster for the info about the HDLP suites. We'll be there in August, which is low season, so hopefully we'll be able to have a look at them before we commit. I've booked a deluxe room for now which I'm sure will be fine...but space is always nice with our daughter in an extra bed in the room...she doesn't want her own room yet, so we are lucky we can save that money for something else...but when she does want her own room, we'll have to scale down our accommodation choices I think.
