Your chances of getting good mountain views in June in Nepal are marginal. It can definitely happen, but it can also be cloudy every single day that you are there. It's a long way to go to take that risk.

This website has been one of the best investments in time over the last 10 months.

Thanks to all!

Trip report to follow in a few weeks.

Godspeed.

sounds like a wild ride.

We found Fatepur Sikri to be infinitely more interesting than Agra Fort - well worth the extra ride if you are going as far as Agra.

In Delhi, our two favorite visits were to Qtub Minar and Nizamuddin. BTY the sufi shrines at both Fatepur and Nizamuddin are moving and colorful. The Lodi gardens in New Delhi would be cool (find some trees to rest under) in the hot season.

good luck and stay cool.

Dogster: it is 630pm local KTM time and i am at the computer in the Hyatt Club Lounge where I suspect I received much info from you.

Thanks again for your help. KTM is a lovely mess and we're having a great time.

cheers!

Heya - I can picture you right now...

Hope you're enjoying those evening canapes - when I was there I set a record for eating more than any living human..

Give my regards to the staff. Tell them Mr. Nigel sent you. I was there just two weeks ago. Now I'm back in boring Melbourne - but not for long.

Have you been to Boudnath yet?

MrFun, I'm glad to see you are in KTM. I'm headed to KTM in October (first time back since 1994). Have a wonderful time!

The one Durbar Square I recommend is Baktapur.

I look forward to your report!

hey Dogster, i passed on your regards to the staff and got a big smile. I dug for a little dirt on you and found out you did indeed like the "canape hour." They now cut them in quarters to make them go further and call them "Nigel Nips." Just kidding!

Your recommendation for the Hyatt here in Kathmandu was an excellent one. The rate for this type of hotel is excellent (and includes a generous buffet breakfast!).

Yes, did go to the Boudnath a couple times....that's a beehive of activity. I snapped dozens of pictures of people just living life.

Also did the mountain flight. For $160 i thought it was good value...certainly recommend it!

This is beginning to sound like a trip report so i'll stop short here.

Leaving for Calcutta/Kolkata today for 4 days and then home to Canada.

The trip has been fast paced but very manageable, fyi for those perusing this thread.

Best regards to all.......

Woo hoo! Now the fun really begins!

If you meet a young management trainee called Ashi at the Oberoi, shmoozin' and cruisin' the guests give him my regards - he'll look after you.

Dive in, my friend. Maximum culture clash coming up!
