In KL, choosing between these hotels?

We fially booked our tickets from spain to singapore. we will do a bit of malaysia between dec. 25th and january 7th.

I seem to have narrowed it down to these 4* or 5* hotels for a few nights.

All are within $10-$15 or so of each other.

Traders
Sheraton
Renaissance

any comments on any as far as inconvenience or another recommendation in this moderate range for three adults (about $91-$107) Dec. 26th or 27th til 30th?

Thanks! I am so excited to be able to go! The airfare wan't what I hoped for, but in fear it would keep climbing, once it took a small dip we decided to just do it.

comments welcome.

I assume the Sheraton you mean is the old Imperial, and not the old Sheraton in Subang. The old Sheraton is great for golfing but miles away from anything else. The Imperial is in a pretty good location a short walk from Bintang Walk and other shopping areas.

The Renaissance is walking distance to the Petronas towers, shopping center, etc. and also an easy walking distance to the LRT to the Central Market and Chinatown. If you get the right room, you'll have a great view of the towers from your bed.

The Traders is the least desirable location, I think. As I recall, it's next to the old convention center, in a rather run-down part of town.

For me, it would be a toss-up between the Sheraton and the Renaissance. I would probably give the nod to the Renaissance because it has a really good fitness center.

However, I recently stayed at the Impiana KLCC. It's $30 - $40 less than the others, and in a really great location. The deluxe room was fabulous.

My vote goes to Impiana KLCC too. Great location between twin towers, Bkt Bintang, Aquaria, sidewalk restaurants and Jalan P Ramlee nightlife.

I've stayed twice with my wife at the Traderin 2008 and it was great. Rooms are very nice, very new, good service (as everywhere in Malaysia), with huge buffet breakfast and nice indoor pool. The hotel sites just in front of the Petronas and few walks away from pubs and restaurant.
Bedside you just need to walk 5 minutes to sunbath in the mandarin. It is a little far from China town but taxis are very cheap in KL.
If you choose the Trader ask for a room with Petronas view.
Have a nice trip

I recently stayed at the Renaissance. It was a very nice hotel (especially the West Wing rooms) and in a good location for walking to the Petronas Towers. One drawback - the corner that the hotel is on is horrible, traffic-wise. We were told (after booking) that it was the worst intersection in the city. It seems like a strange thing to mention, but we had dinner reservations one night and thought we gave ourselves plenty of time. However, after spending 30 minutes waiting in our taxi to get through one traffic light (I'm not exaggerating!) we had to change our plans. There is a train station across the street, but if you stay at the Renaissance, trying to take a taxi at dinnertime isn't recommended.

hi Lina:

May I chime in with another recommendation. In past visits to Malaysia, I found the Equatorial to be an excellent choice...location, comfort, staff, breakfasts, etc. You might give it a try...I just looked at their web and there's a special going on.
Just a few blocks from the "twins"...
whatever you decide, enjoy!!

The good thing about Renaissance is that it's just across from the Bukit Nanas monorail station and a short walk from the Dang Wangi LRT station.

Traffic is bad around Renaissance it's in the crossroads going to KLCC and the Bukit Bintang area. When it rains, it gets worse. Anyway I dislike taking taxis in KL. If you do hail them from the street make sure the driver uses the meter or agree on a price before getting on.
