Bob,
Dress at Sky Bar is nice casual. They do not permit shorts or flip flop sandals, or the big chunky Doc Marten type sandals either. Son says they don't want the "back packer" types there...
I'm sure nice pants/shirt/shoes for guys, and a dress, skirt or pants for the girls plus pumps, nice dressy "strappy" sandals, or closed toe shoes would be just fine. The place is really classy, so it looks good to go there dressed nicely, not looking like a worn out tourist.. LOL.
I think everyone on this forum would enjoy a ride to the top of State Tower for dinner or drink at the bar. I do believe you can go, just for the view. If you are properly dressed, you'll be just fine, whether you spend $$ there or not.

It is definitely a stunning bar. I second the suggestion the people go there. We also ate there and while the setting was outstanding and the food y good, it was way over priced in my opinion. But it's not different from US restaurants with a view -- you are often paying for it rather than the food. I would stick to the bar next time and skip the food.
"Casual elegant" seemed to be the dress code.

Oh, orgy7, don't be too critical of the singer. That jazz band has a nice sound! The view is worth listening to just about anything for 15 minutes. Just go have a look/listen. It won't cost you anything but the cab fare. I want to hear your opinions of the place.

PS.. have you had the chili yet???

hombre: you loco? ella fitzgeral..yawn? she was one of the greatest jazz/scat singers. after the chili, i guess i will have to drag your okole to the sky bar so you can get a better feel for good music.(i don't think you can wear your red t-shirt there) . billie, lena horne, dianah carroll, all in the same class. aretha different type of music.
btw, i hope you are planning to practice your 9-ball game in ct. no prisoners at brunswick. have a safe trip home.
