How would you spend 7 days in Thailand?

Hi all,

I am planning for 2 weeks in Southeast Asia. With my first week in Cambodia, I am looking to spend 7 days in Thailand. How would you spend 7 days in Thailand?

Are you a beach person? If so, I'd split my time, 3-4 days in Bangkok and 3-4 days on a beach. You don't say when you are going, and there are weather considerations. Bangkok is a very interesting exotic city. I could easily spend all my time in Bangkok! There is a lot to see and do.

On the cultural side, I would also consider stops at Thailand's prior capitals: Ayutthaya (just an hour north of Bangkok) and Sukhothai. Both places contain wonderful examples of Thai art (painting and sculpture) and architecture.

We spent 4 days in Bangkok and 3 in Chang Mai. I'm not a beach person; much preferred the jungle. LOVED Thailand.

Thank you everyone for your inputs. Sounds like I'll need to reconsider the 1st week in Cambodia. So much to see!!

The plan is for March.

Why would you change the week in Cambodia?

Just considering doing Cambodia on another trip. I felt like I was getting too eager. Still open for suggestions though

I think it is wise to see Angkor sooner rather than later.

It takes three full days just to see the so-called major temples. We spent a week and would have enjoyed even more time. So how long to spend at Angkor depends on your level of interest. Get Dawn Rooney's book, Angkor: A Guide to Cambodia's Wondrous Temples to help you decide how long you need there.

You can easily spend a week in BKK if you like big, busy cities. YOu might consider 4 days in BKK and 3 in CM/CR. We loved Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai area. However, I would be careful going North during March as that is when they have their "burning season" and air pollution can be a problem.
