Hi Marshas,
I just came back from Ubud and I used Made(he was also recommended by Fodorites and cheaper than Putu) His email address is [email protected] has a very comfortable car with a/c and he speaks good English...He charges about rp250,000 per day...His Hawaiian girlfriend owns an antique/vintage wholesale business and she has some great stuff...Made himself has a business custom making furniture specializing in copying any antique/vintage style Balinese doors...he buys his wood in the villages of Lombok..mainly teak...
As for accommodation, I heard that Alilah is beautiful but a bit far from town...that shouldn't be a worry if you have a driver....we stayed in a Suite at Biyukukung Hotel in town very close to the famous Bebek Bengil restaurant..very nice and cosy with great views of rice paddy fields...they have a driver on standby to drive ou anywhere nearby and they will pick u up when you're done...we paid about USD$80 nett including breakfast...
