Hong Kong Tailor Recommendations

Can anyone recommend a tailor for a shopping trip to HK in July? Wanting to have shirts, jackets, dresses, pants made.

Maxwell's. Do a search here, I'm not the only person who recommends Maxwell's.

Concur with Kathie's suggestion to do a search. Many people have contributed a good deal of information about specific tailors -- please don't ask them to re-type all of their knowledge and experience.

(I've never used Maxwell's. However, it would be reassuring if they could update their website a bit. On their map, about half the hotels used as landmarks have either changed their names or no longer exist.)

Remember to allow plenty of time for fittings, etc.

I used Maxwells recently. I had read some positive reviews about them on the internets so I wanted to give them a try. I met their representative on their recent US trip. They had a package deal of $189 USD for 4 shirts plus $12 shipping for each shirt, for a total cost of $237 USD.
That's about $60 per shirt all inclusive. The material was pretty decent - most of them 100% cotton with plains, Egyptian cottons and Italian stripe cottons. There were also a few higher end shirts priced at $60 each(plus $12 shipping) if I remember correctly. I liked their transparency with prices declared upfront and no arbitrary jacking up of prices. The person who measured was wearing a nice tapered fit shirt so that gave me confidence they can make my shirt well. I had a casual glance at a few of their suiting materials also but since I was not looking for a suit to be made, I did not enquire about the price. The only drawback with Maxwells is that delivery takes 8-10 weeks. I asked the rep if they can speed it up a little and he said they will try to 'rush' it in 6 weeks. I told him waiting so long is painful and by the time the clothes arrive, customers will even forget what they ordered! He said they have orders for 1000's of items and it takes a while to produce them. I guess the long waiting period is a price we pay for low price! If anyone knows of similarly priced Hong Kong tailors but with a shorter 3-4 week waiting period please post here.

If you go to Hong Kong, you'll get your shirts within a few days of your order. But it's a long, expensive trip to get your shirts faster. ;-)

Seriously, all the HK tailors that come to the US seem to have similar delivery schedules, as far as I know.
