The fares from Seattle are still high on United. People with crystal balls are predicting that fares will come down substantially before September. We'd love to be there, but it will depend in part on airfares. So count us as still interested!

i am IN! and that review of that new himalayan place is mine --what a kick! i get an email from ht telling me to ck this thread, and there's ht and kuranosuke, drooling over yak butter.
himalayan kitchen is good, v exotic, made my mouth v happy. gets my vote.
HOWEVER. i was thinking it's about time we have a gtg at a true, kick-back izakaya. plenty of those around town, all w/ different character.

I emailed guenmai and got a reply. She says she cannot make the GTG this year. That's too bad. I guess you will "see" her on the Europe forum here and on tripadvisor. She says BKK prices (flights) are too high.

Got an e-mail from Hilton: "Hawaii as low as $161". It is for the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio and the Hilton on Kauai.
I checked rates for Sept 17-19 and they have a rate for $125, run of house. $16.20 in taxes, so about $141 all in, per night. It is advance purchase. I think a HH Gold c/would get upped to the exec floor.

Hey mrwunrfl, hope you can make it over, the Hilton sounds like a good deal. The HHV's pricing is not bad either at that time....
Robbie, hard to compete with the south of France, have a great time and hope you all can make it here one year soon!
The reviews of the Himalayan Kitchen were spot on. Kuranosuke and I had a great time. Looks like we have a venue. I will email GTG info to all those attending soon.
If anyone else is planning on attending you can email me at
