Help with Bangkok!!

My friends and I have planned on going Bangkok for 4 days & 3 nights. Three of us are all 21-year old girls and we have no idea on Bangkok. We're not really into luxury hotels. A reasonable one in the heart of the area will do. We prefer excitement and experience to indulgence in our itinerary. We appreciate beautiful scenery and places of interest that are not 'boring', as we're still young. And yeah we're into nightlife too. We want experience culture and also we intend to take public transport (preferably the skytrain) around.

1)Can anyone recommend any decent hotel with reasonable rates?
2)What are some of the recommended places of interest that will be suitable for us?
3)Any suggestions or recommendations for us?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

can you tell us your budget?? you might consider one of the serviced apartments like the centre pointe serviced apartments on silom or on wireless or one of their other places...you might consider chateau de bangkok well located....you might look at the davis hotel...you might look at the holiday inn on silom..this is a start...

there is a list of things to see in bkk:

grand palace
lots of wats (temples)
jim thompson house
v-mark palace
suan packard palace
klong (canal) tour in thornburi with long tail boat
boat trips on the river
wat arun

and of course: shopping, shopping and more shopping

khao san rd is where all the young people are it's the back packer haven and the new hot spot too party (Nightclubs) .. there are some Ok hotels over there but it can be a pain in the butt too get to the shopping districts there is a big taxi mafia in that area who love ganking tourists hard.

I can maybe help with the nighclub portion of your trip. what are you into, music styles etc?

if you plan too scope some dudes out probably going to khao san is one of your best choices.

if you want a girls night out at some lux joints than sukunvit rd has plenty to offer and one off the best is bed superclub..

clubs come and go so some place you may have reaserched may not be around when you get here.

you might also check out the lonely planet site. They have a message board like this and the vast majority of the posters are in their 20s.

our budget is about US$50/night for accomodations.
we were considering the Royal River Hotel, as its near the river. Would it be advisable to hotel-hop, to stay in different hotels every night?

and by the way, me and my pals are into r&b hip hop, drum and bass. We're might want try clubs that are different, we don't mind lesbian/gay clubs but not too sleazy though. Also we wanna try the Bed Supperclub. Heard that its good.

Silom soi 4 Ipatpong district) is a small alley full of clubs. there are many gay clubs pluss stright places my favorit hip hop joint is there (SPEED) it's grimmy cool.. they just play bangin music and offer cheep drinks .. always packed friday-sat..

do a reaserch on mystique bangkok seems cool but have not been..

many people seem to like Q-bar on sukunvit soi 11. but I find it too be just full of useless high-so snobs

word is LAVA right in the midle of khao san rd is good.. and there are plenty of low key cool clubs full of young people from all over the world

techno has gone the way of the macaraina for now so there are not too many venues that offer drum base on on a regular bases but most clubs do offer techno music on sertain days.. there used too bea Ministry of sound here..

I have stayed in a new boutique hotel called The Siam Heritage Hotel right next to Patpong (don't worry - their security is very good). Got the cheapest rate (as far as I found) from www.precisionreservations.com, at about 2000 bahts per night. They have a pool at roof top too. Check out the official website of the hotel here - http://www.thesiamheritage.com/accom.htm.

My wife and I are 22 and were just in BKK. We stayed in a place called Asha Guesthouse, www.ashaguesthouse.com. This is not on Khao San road, it is in a quieter part of the city. But there are still many clubs around. The staff is super nice, and the place is always busy, so you will meet many travlers your age. Enjoy.

May I suggest a great night spot for you. The name is Tawandang. It is a German brewery. Up until a couple of years ago, it was nearly all Thais that went there. The food is delicious (especially pork tawandang, which you pull off a huge leg bone to eat, yummmmm!!!), the beer is cold and plentiful, there is a live band that is very entertaining, and people get up and dance in the aisles. It's a great fun place to meet Thais of all ages! Go early so you get a good seat down on the main floor below the stage. Some of the seating isn't great for watching the stage "show" which is really super neat. Part of it is Thai music (sort of a Thai jazz fusion sound) and part of it is hiphop with great singers and dancers. We always have a great time at Tawandang.
