Chiang Mai is a great place and has so much to offer. I have been there more than fifty times over the last 25 years and never tire of the city or indeed the surrounding area!!!
I have been looking at a very up-to-date website which I think will just about answer any question you have viz. www.chiangmaichimes.com

Here's one more Chiang Mai suggestion. Take a tuk tuk 10 minutes to the art museum at Chiang Mai university. Its exhibits are primarily contemporary Thai artists. There's a small gift shop and cafe and no admission charge.
