I can't say that I've ever seen a Harley in Bali, though there may be a few... You should consider whether you really want to rent a motorbike. Roads are curvy and not well marked. Traffic rules are treated as mere suggestions, and as a foreigner, you are considered responsible for any accident you are involved in.

The Harley Clubs of Indonesia and various other Asian cities -- e.g. Hong Kong, Singapore -- often organize Bali trips. Not my area of expertise so I can't give you any links, but I see them in Bali all the time. I'm sure if you do an internet search you'd find more information.

Thanks. Before I posted, I did the internet search and found a couple of route maps but was interested in hear someone's Experience.
The web images look great but we haven't been to Bali for a long time and renting a motorcycle there is a bit different ride than ...say, Kona.
Still hoping to hear from someone.

I fully intended to do a bike tour in Bali 3/4 years ago but stupidly left my license at home so we ended up on push bike instead. There are several Harley rental agencies in Denpasar but personally I would try to arrange pick up in Ubud as the traffic in and and around Denpasar is awful. I loved the area in the north around Gunung Batur and onwards to the permuteran area. the roads are ideal for biking, lots of bends, clear roads and fantastic views and would be a good trip for one day. The driving seemed to me to be ok but a motorcyclist will obviously have to be more aware of the unpredictablilty of drivers there than a car driver.
Three days would probably be long enough to do a circuit of the whole island depending of course on how many detaours were taken.
As for guided verus DIY tours, I have done both and both have there pros and cons. DIY gives much more freedom to explore tiny villages and out of the way places but guided tours do provide much more structure and will ensure that you see all of the recommended sights. I suppose the guided option does provide the reassurance that if things go wrong help is close at hand but IMHO DIY wins simply because of the freedom it allows the rider to get off the tourist track. If the trip does go ahead please post a report as I would love to hear of your experiences.
