I've read several threads about traveling from Hanoi to Hue, but did not get to the bottom of exactly how long of a train/bus ride it is? I also could not pull up the flight schedule from Hanoi to Hue?

Can someone tell me how long of a bus/train/car ride it is from Hanoi to Hue, and if you know anything about the flight options?

I did find the train schedule but it was a little hard to comprehand. I'm thinking other travelers already went through this same research and would know?

Your help is appreciated as I'm trying to decide on the best option for travel for one night there. I can fly, or take the train.

For readable train schedules see http://seat61.com/Vietnam.htm. It's around 12 hours depending on which train. I wouldn't consider doing it by bus, or by car unless I was going to stop somewhere along the way. The train will more interesting than a flight.

In January, 2008, we are flying Hanoi to Hue on Vietnam Airways, flight VN247 at 19:30 hours. Flight takes 1 hour 40 minutes and cost $60 USD through Vietnamstay.com. Hope this helps.

this flight is around $40 via www.ivivu.com with either pacific airlines (have their own site for booking cheaper too) or vietnam airlines.
