Hanoi-recommendation for silk design/dressmaking,etc.

Quite impressed with the service and style of Oanh. She is a 24 year old lady who is quite talented with fitting and styling. If you use her services, tell her that Lois who stayed at the Sofitel Metropole sent you. She made adjustments on the clothes at 8 8 PM and returned at 9 PM with the corrections and all was great.

Thanks for the info...where is she located? What type of clothes did she make for you? Did you bring your own pictures?

I can also recommend Marie-Linh at 11 Nha Tho and 74 Hang Trong, by the cathedral. They have ready-made styles in western sizes, mostly in linen, but will also customize their designs. I had a black linen dress and black silk palazzo pants custom done...as a tall girl this was great, and the service and tailoring were top notch.

Barefoot Beach - Yes, the address is in the original post, but let me say that this street is the one that is full of silk stores. She made for me-1) silk pants 2) short jacket in a color that I had tried on in a different color 3) Embroidered dress with shawl for a summer wedding. The other items (long black emroidered coat with orange accents; black top; embroidered short jacket) were ready-made but needed alterations. I was impressed when she looked at the dress she was making and I commented that I felt like the strapless dress was falling down-her suggestion to put straps and not too thick and also she recognized that I couldn't handle the long shawls but rather, needed a shorter one since I am not that big. Her quick sense of what was right, her style and her quickness with working impressed me. I can't wait to wear my new silks when I return home. Hope this helps.

One more answer to your question-I did not bring my own pictures. There are dress books in a number of stores. From all of the looking that I did, I was able to settle on some modifications of what she had in her store.
