Going to Krabi - again :-)

Hi all

My wife and I went to Krabi a few years back (in 2002) and in November we are going there again We have arranged the flights and hotel so most of the details are in place - but if you have any suggestions when it comes to activities, restaurants etc please let me know :-9 We are staying more or less on Ao Nang beach by the way. Our last trip was great and we got to see James Bond Island and we have been to Phi Phi and Phuket before. Well, if you have any good advice let me know

Regards

Hey Gard,

I'll also be in Krabi in November, staying in Ao Nang. I'll probably rent a longtail boat to do the 4-island tour and to go to Hong Island. What dates will you be there?

The tour to the Hong Island is really fun. 4 of us rented a longtail and had a fabulous day. We used Andaman camp and cruise.com. They were fabulous to deal with, good english, and provided a delicious lunch out on one of the island. All the snorkle, kayaking equiptment you want can be provided. It is a beautiful area. The Amari Vogue hotel is out beyond the Sheraton, but is a fantastic place for a sunset drink and dinner. Maybe 15-20 min out of Ao Nang. Nice drive.

Have you done the sidecar taxi yet? It's a great adventure. We took one to a 'local market' up in the lush green hillside, in the early evening. The air was much cooler at the slightly higher elevation. Try a sidecar taxi!

I really like the hot waterfall and emerald lake - not the kind of places you think of when you think of Thailand. It's a nice day trip. If I were to do it again, I'd try to arrange private transportation rather than join a group.

You can get a taxi driver to take you to the emerald pool. If you get a driver that you like, ask him to take you for the day on a tour, and include the pool. It gives you much more flexibility than with a group tour.

You might find this food/restaurant guide for Krabi useful: http://www.bangkokpost.com/leisure/c...y-green-season

Gard, your post about the new wine bar got removed, it would appear. It got 'invaded' by an UGG boots promo, which I reported as advertising. I didn't think they would remove the entire thread!

Where in Ao Nang will you be staying? The Ao Nang Princeville is not bad. My Thai friend Meang (you need to go to the Pickled Liver and have her cook for you!!) and I stayed there in 2008. It was very handy to shops and restaurants and Haagen Dazs ice cream

Hi

No, seems like my posting about Opus Wine Bar is still there: http://www.fodors.com/community/asia...in-bangkok.cfm

We will be staying at the Small hotel which is located in the area between Ao Nang and Nopparat Thara beach.
