Yes, Shanghainese.
The "full fare" from Shanghai Putong to Hunagshan for May appears to be ~$200.
As per rkkwan's suggestion, we will wait until we arrive in Shanghai, and in the meantime monitor the on-line prices. In Shanghai we will just walk into a local travel agency. If they have cheaper fare we'll take them, if not we can still book them through Elong or CTrip for the higher prices.
I doubt if the planes will be totally sold out. If they do, we'll just go somewhere else for 2 nights because we will not have hotel booked in Shanghai for those 2 nights.

Sounds like a plan, Johnmango, there is so much to see/do in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. Since you like mountains, should you not get to Huangshan, check out Muoganshan near Hangzhou, not as craggy as Huangshan with the pine trees, yet has its own charm with towering bamboo everywhere. Part of "Crouching Tiger ..." was filmed close by. It was the summer resort of the privileged (Chiang Kai shek had a villa there) and still is.
