Thanks! When I did a search on Mandarin Hotel, all that came up was the Oriental, although it didn't <b>look</b> the Oriental in that little picture. I'm sorry for the other hotel, but I'm really glad it's not the Oriental.

A lot of people don't realize that Bangkok has a 'Mandarin' hotel that is not part of the Mandarin-Oriental chain.

It's really bad when clueless writers refer to the 'Mandarin Oriental' hotel in Bangkok, rather than the Oriental. I'm sure a lot of people end up at the wrong hotel that way.

how bad was the fire as 5 of us are booked to stay there late Dec 2007 for 4 days.
