Fantastic Thailand hotel deals
scroll down on the topic below to the section on thailand. these are two fantastic hotel deals, especially the khao lak one.
i called the hotel first, using skype telephone to establish that rooms were still available for my dates. i then bought the vouchers. i called back again to make the hotel res for which you have to have the voucher numbers.
we saved $280 on a 5 night stay against the res rate i already had for a nov stay. i should point out that my original res which i made on 12/29/11 was for about 1/2 the rate published today, so the savings are fantastic---maybe $1000.

Bob, I can get this J W at Khao Lak for the New Year holiday, using points. Gotta make a decision fairly soon, before the deal disappears. Did you see that Marriott is now offering, on the site, $ + points deals?
Aloha from the Courtyard Waikiki (moving to the Marriott Resort Waikiki Beach tomorrow). I stayed two nights at Ko Olina J W, which was gorgeous!

Marriott is not offering the cash and points deal like Starwood does. You have the option of paying cash or points for any particular day of your stay but not cash and points for a particular day. Its a step in the right direction but not quite there yet. I would like to see them do it like Starwood does.

this special deal is not good over the holidays of course.
i did see the new marriott "offer"

I checked out the Muse on Trip Advisor- and I agree its too dark, not very appealing in my opinion. The Marriott on the other hand looks very nice - but there were some problems recently - see the trip advisor posts- Bob make sure this does not happern to you!

billT---i know the GM personally... he is a young american and very capable. he previously worked at the jw phuket so knows that operation well.
while over-crowding often happens with large weddings, esp indian weddings, it appears that the hotel acted in good faith in moving people to the meridien an equally nice hotel.
as far as TA reports go, i use them only as a reference and often doubt some extreme things reported there..
