Eddie for flights
Thought I'd start a separate thread for this since the question is so specific:
If I use Mr. Eddie to book flights, how will I get the tickets? Will I have to pick them up in Bangkok or will they be mailed? And if the former, how easy is it to find him?
Also, Scotters (if you see this) - you mentioned in the post in my other thread that you'd get Eddie to book my flights from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Song (Thai Air) and also from CM to Luang Prabang (Lao Air). Why wouldn't I just use the Thai Air site for the former and the site you listed for the latter? You said the site you listed was "an agent" site. It seemed to offer reservations. So... could I not get my tickets that way? And again, would they be mailed to me? Do these airlines use
e-tickets? (Is that a dumb question??)
Thanks,
Karen

althom1122 - I did not reccomend the Lao agents site as I have heard some negative things about them. Eddie on the other seems to be very reliable. I only gave you the site as it up do date with times and fares. You could book with Thai on your own. I am still not sure if he can get the discovery pass for you or if you must get it outside of Thailand.

eddie's cheap tickets are for inter-asia flights, i.e. bkk-hanoi-bkk or bkk-yangon-bkk
his usa to bkk prices are not a bargain, at least when i asked for a quote...
his inter thailand prices are the best available on that day but these seem to be standard...
his agency is an american express agency...they do not up charge for use of a credit card, which is unusual for bkk....
they always deliver to my hotel on the day i ask them to...
i am sure they could be mailed, but i would not rely on that, unless you used fedex or something similar...why pay the fee...
you could get cheaper discount tickets from bkk to CM probably from air asia or something similar but i would rather go with the reliable thai air or bkk air....bkk air is usually never the cheapest...i do like them however...they do cancel flights on you but rebook you quickly on the next flight...

Well, I'm finished! My flights are all booked. Eddie got my Mae Hong Son flights (from/to Chiang Mai) and also the one on Lao Air to Luang Prabang. The former was the price Scotters quoted, the latter was a bit more, but I decided to just go for it. And yes, he said they'd be delivered to my hotel. The rest of my flights will be on the Discovery Pass (although haven't gotten email confirmation yet). Interestingly, a couple of my first-choice flights were already full and I had to choose another time. I was surised - I'm not going until February! But at least I've got everything I need. Thanks everyone for the advice on this.

karen --lots of the popular routes, with limited daily flights, like to SR and LP are full months in advance...this is why i always chuckle when people say ...oh, i'll just book once i get there....that's fine if you have unlimited time, but most of us do not...and who wants a flight at 11PM that only takes one hour to an unfamiliar place...??
