airfare Bangokok to Changmai

My daughter and I are arriving in Bangkok early March and wish to spend 2 to 3 days in Chang Mai in the middle of our stay. Can anyone tell us is it better to book our airfares to and from Chang Mai online before we go or is it best ( and cheaper) to book at an agents once in Bangkok ? Also does anyone know what we should expect to pay for the roundtrip airfares?

Try: http://www.airasia.com/site/en/home.jsp

If you book in advance you can get a return ticket includeing tax for about 2,050 baht per person.

We always book while in Bangkok. It allows us flexibility in determining WHEN we want to go to Chiang Mai. You can get your air and hotel as a package deal from any number of travel agents in Bangkok. The good news is, you don't pay more for a ticket on Thai Airways by waiting until the last minute to purchase it! The price does NOT go up. Flights to Chiang Mai are plentiful (almost hourly) so you have many choices. We also pay the extra $20 or so, and fly in Royal Executive Class.

This year? Early March is soon. Starting day after tomorrow, in fact, and ending in less than two weeks from now.

Bob is right on. You can buy an e-ticket online now. $128 at travelocity. 5320 baht at thaiairways.com

You could also fly with one of the three discount airlines for $80 or less. However their are strick bagage allowances on these.
