Dubai - Transit.
Hello.
In just over 24 hrs our mini-adventure to Thailand will begin. Its very exciting but having done nothing like this before we our understandable a little nervous.
One of the things playing on my mind is our transit in Dubai. We will have about 3 hrs there at abot 2am in the morning (I know!). Has anyone transit(ed)sp? through Dubai before and can tell me what to expect. I keep reading things about having to surrender my passport and I really don't like the sound of that.
Oh we are flying with Emirates if that any help
Thanks.

Thanks Tracey.
Ive read that in order to get a transit visa they take your passport.
When did you travel, maybe this is a recent thing?
I am very much lookign forward to the emirates flight, although not as much as my boyfriend whom I think is looking forward to the flight more then the hoiday

I think transit visa is what you get if you need to leave the airport for a few hours or overnight between flights. If you are just in the airport for 3 hours, you should not need to get a visa. Just enjoy some of the best duty free shopping in the world!

ok. I will stop worrying, thanks.
Now the only other thing is my passport picture, it was taken before they started getting really strict. It is very very pale and you can hardly make it out. WOuld have applied for a new one but they are like £75 over here now.
Oh well not much I can do about it now.
Thanks again.

Wouuldn't worry about the passport pic either. My 15 year old step son just travelled to Europe from the US last week and he was worried they wouldn't let him in because he looked so much different than his passport pic taken when he was 10 years old. Not a problem.

You would just be in the transit area which has superb facilities and plenty to do, shopping, restaurants, relaxing areas, and during thre night is actualy one of the very busiest times at Dubai !
The transit facilities are excellent!
