Do we have enough time between planes in BKK? Advice please.
This July we are flying Bangkok Airways from Ko Samui to Bangkok and connecting to an Air Asia flight to Chiang Mai. We have a 75 minute connection time in Bangkok and now I am worried that is not enough time, especially if we have to collect our bags and then go through security all over again. Does anyone have any advice? Do you know if the bags could be checked through so we would not have to go through security in Bangkok? I think we can change the time of our Bangkok Airways flight without penalty, but the next earlier one is several hours earlier.

Air Asia is a budget carrier. As such, it does not transfer nor allow transfer of your luggage. You'll have to collect your luggage, check in at the AIr Asia ticket counter and go back through security.
BTW, I don't know if Air Asia domestic flights use the new airport or the old airport... best to check that.
Can you change your flight to CM to Bangkok AIr? They will transfer your luggage.

I think your schedule is very tight.....maybe too tight.
I'm pretty sure that Air Asia now use only Suvarnabhumi, but even so it's going to be tight.
I would go with Kathies advice and try to change your flight to Bangkok Airways.

I too think its too tight, however on Saturday i landed at BKK from Luang Prabang and it took approx 5 minutes to clear immigration as it waspractivally deserted,it took another 25mins for luggage though... change your flight if you can.

Yes you will be flying out of Suvarnabhumi airport only Nok Air and One 2 Go fly from the old airport.
I don't think you can make it even if the flight from Samui is on time. After landing give yourself around 20 minutes for luggage to appear. Then around a 5 minutes rush walk upstairs to the Air Asia counter where you must check-in 45 minutes before your flight. You can just make it if everything goes without a hitch but I would be anxious all the way. Go for a later Chianbg Mai flight since I believe they have a flight departing almost every hour or two.

While there is a direct flight from Chiang Mai to Samui there is no direct flight in the oposite direction. There is one fight a day that stops in Bangkok and continues on to CM. But it is expensive at around $200
As said above you should change your flights so there is more time between them
