Cost range for Compass Tours?

Ok, I'm sick of travel to Europe, and since my area of focus in my anthropology minor was India, I've have been looking into taking a good tour as an into. I'm especially interested in Compass Tours Cultural Tour package of India (about 15 days as I recall), but I can't find a price. Does anyone know how much a Compass tour of this length usually runs per person (double occupancy)? Thanks!

in 2006 they quoted me about $2100 for 11 days in the golden triangle for two persons...that included all hotels at the 4* level....driver and car for the entire time: delhi-agra-jaipur-delhi....

send them an e mail and ask....i did not end up using them but went with the significantly cheaper castle and king....arvind the owner will be glad to respond....google castle and king...

That's not bad at all! And you mean that was for 2 people, not per person??? I'll check out the other group as well. Thanks!

Alas, there isn't a tour package for the rather extensive itinerary that I desire (which compass offers), but I did contact Castle and King with a custom journey inquiry, so we'll see what they say.

Was there any food in that package and was there a meet and greet at the airport?

Did Castle and King arrange a guide for you in each city? I just don't want to end up somewhere to be stood up an on our own, esp. on a first trip to India.

We used Castle and King and our trip (also our first trip to India) was flawless. A C & K representative plus car and driver met us on arrival at each destination. Not a single glitch. We had guides and drivers arranged by C & K in each place, and they were all extremely responsive and flexible according to our interests. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I am a little embarassed to say that twice we left things at our hotel when checking out, which we only realized when we arrived at the airport with no time to go back to get the things we left, and the C & K representative arranged to deliver the packages to our next destinations, by car and driver, with no charge!
Do a search on my name for our trip report. I would be happy to answer any questions. Where in India and when are you planning to go?

Rhjkmk - the $2100 - did it include the international travel as well as internal? I am pretty sure it couldn't have but just wondering if I have been overpaying! Thx

Hey! The tentative plan is 20-24 days for Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur, Khaijurao (sp), Varanasi, and Mumbia with a couple of days to hit Ajanta and Ellora. We
d also like to hit a wildlife park if at all possible. I know that may seem ambitious, but we're young, used to intense travel (and so far it hasn't made things less enjoyable), and I have a mild fear that my husband may never wish to return to India if he has a bad experience (he's that type, all it takes is one major thing gone wrong and he never wants to return). So, I want to hit the places that are most important, even if it means picking up the pace.

We generally like slow-paced travel, but we did almost the same thing you are doing in India for the same reasons -- didn't know if we would return and wanted to see as much as possible. We were only in India for two weeks and visited Delhi, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Agra, and Varanasi/Amritsar. (I went to Varanasi and my husband went to Amritsar to see the golden temple instead). The key was that we flew between cities to save time. What season are you going? I think that will make a real difference in your trip. I wouldn't go during the heat of summer or in the monsoon season. November through early March is the best time to go. You should really post under a different topic to get lots more info from all of the India experts, such as Cicerone.

Hey! We are planning a trip in the winter (mid Jan. through mid Feb.),and we do plan to fly between all the major jumps.
I do plan to post under different topics once we begin to formulate more of a plan, and hopefully we'll get this show on the road.
