Chinese New Year

Hi all, There's a chance we may be in Bangkok over Chinese New Year--is this something to experience or something to avoid (crowds,etc)..

During the Chinese New Year most of the family run and small businesses will be close. The department stores and hotel restaurants etc will be open. Bangkok will be very quite in general with exception for the China Town or the Yoawarat area where there will be lots of activities.

there is a very large Chinese population in Thailand and the Chinese new Year is definitely celebrated. A lot of businesses are closed.
