Chiang Mai lodging question

We are currently booked at the Peaberry hotel for our eight nights stay in early March. I am thinking of changing hotels to find something with maybe a little more room space and a pool since we will be there for so long. Looking at the Golden Bell, but would consider a serviced apartment if we could find something for eight nights.

We are currently paying about 2000 bhat for the Peaberry, Golden Bell is similar in price, closer to the gate, and has a pool so that is my current plan if I can't find anything else.

As always, thank you in advance for any and all opinions.

Gin

That seems expensive for March in CM. Burning season in earnest will make many days miserable. And those 2 named hotels are about same walk to the Gate but the Peaberry is closer to a good hospital.

I am concerned about the burning, but that's when I'm going to be there so will have to make the best of it.

Any opinion about the area around the University? We can get an airbnb place for about $27/night.

The area round the university has some lovely cafes and also a fair number of convenience stores. In addition you are on the right side of the city for visiting the zoo and Doi Suthep. However, it is not a good location for visiting the city centre proper - you would need taxis or buses for every trip in I think and this is not the best area to pick them up either.

Currently considering White House (family room, has a separate living room for more space, no pool, 1300bhat/night

Lamphu House. Pool, superior room 833bhat/night. But hard to see room size.

Both are by the gate.
