Greetings all

Need a few recommendations for hotels in Chiang Mai. Just added this stop to the itinerary and our budget is pretty tight. We need lodging for no more than $125 US per night. I welcome all suggestions.

You should have no trouble finding a hotel with that sort of budget, by no means tight in Thailand. I have no suggestions because my budget, also not especially tight for Chiang Mai, is about a quarter or third of that.

Now, if what you want is a posh resort, that may be another story. You might give more detail regarding the sort of place you have in mind, and whether in town or in the countryside.

We would like to be in town or no more than 5 mins away. I said tight because all the suggestions I’ve gotten from friends have been $250 and up. We would like a comfortable hotel with a pool, restaurant etc… but that may or may not be possible.

Take a look at the local booking site: www.sawasdee.com and see what appeals to you. You can come back and ask about people's impressions of these places. But there are lots and lots of places easily in your price range that will be nice.

For a place not a booking sites, look at a family-run place called Baan Orrapin. You will have to google them and book on their website.

le meridian??

I have stayed at Baan Orapin. Nice location just across the river. But I cannot recommend it for 1 reason. The traditional architecture, while very pretty, is not conducive to privacy where sound is concerned. I could hear every snore and hiccough, etc. through the common wall of my otherwise wonderful room. The people were lovely, though, so if you can get a room without another one attached, or wear earplugs, it would be a good choice.

Thanks for your recommendations. My wife is against the B&B concept and prefers a full service hotel so the search is still on. I’ve also run into most of the hotels that are in budget are booked during the time we are traveling.

We stayed at the Tamarind Village , which was lovely with a great restaurant. Good location too.

Yaang Come Village is in a good location, near the night market, in Chiang Mai. Just stayed there 2-3 nights in April.

I like Yaang Come Village, but I expect it will be above the OP's price range.

We like Pak Chiang Mai, right near Chiang Mai Gate. I'm not sure what you mean by full service, but you can check out the reviews and decide for yourself. The women who run the place are lovely, and we liked the location as it was quiet, but convenient.

I just made a res for 5 nights at le meridian for nov. 2015--- cash and points--very cheap

We are staying at Le Meridian in CM in January.

Le Meridian get the a Star points! Bfast not that great though!
Don't forget to book the Elephant Nature Park it's a REAL sanctuary for the Elephants.
Please if u love Elephants Stay away from all other camps. All elephants are starved and beaten with hooks.Real tourist traps.
