Hello all. This is Ken and I am a strong supporter of the PLF. I have posted my story before and my "News from the Field" entry is still on the www.theplf.org site. For whatever reason, nothing touches me more than these children.
This past Christmas my family decided that we would only purchase one gift each. I was told that someone was having money problems, so we would have a gift exchange instead of our normal madhouse mountain of gifts.
We had never done this before. The gift exchange went pretty well actually. Eveyone got a gift that they wanted and we even threw in some "Dirty Santa" action to make it interesting. It really was fun.
At the end of the gift exchange my sister-in-law stood up and began to speak. She said "Ken, the truth is that this Christmas we decided to make donations to the PLF instead of buying ourselves gifts that we really did not need." Then she handed me an envelope with three nice-sized checks in it made out to the Ponheary Ly Foundation.
Folks, very little ever surprises me anymore. But this did, I was caught way off guard. Yes I teared up and was almost without words. I thought "They get it! They understand!". The PLF is our cause, not just mine.
In fact there is little that anyone could do that would touch my heart more than this gesture did.
I know Ponheary, I know Lori, I have met these children. The charity is real and 100% legit. If you have a thought that you may want to support this charity then please do so without hesitation. There are dozens of real people on this web site alone who can atest to the fact that your monies will be properly used. It is true, for $12 you can send one child to school for a year.
Thank you for reading this and I apologize for sounding like a broken record for those who have read my posts before! Oh and Merry Christmas!!
