I am trying to figure out where to stay in Bangkok in June 2008. I know it's a long ways away, but I love to plan and take my time with it. In looking at many of the websites (including Trip Advisor) I came across the Centre Point Silom. It has decent reviews and certainly looks nice from the pictures, but it isn't mentioned in any guide books I have read. That doesn't mean anything, but just wondering if anyone has stayed there. Any other suggestions for a good place to stay for at or under $100 US? We don't spend much time in the room, but like a place that is clean, comfortably and well located.

Stayed here last June. Very clean and huge big units. Good temp controls adn big windows with blackout drapes.

There was a major renovation of the lobby happening while we were there, so we had to enter the building on the far side away from the Sky Train, but with the Robinson's door now open, the location is great.

We had two apts for the four of us. Each had a fully equipped kitchen with big refrig, microwave, water heater, and washer/dryer. Maybe a dishwasher?

The dining area had a table set for dinner, a big living room with nice lighting, lots of seating, and big TV. Bedroom was huge, and also had a nice TV and lots of seating and vanity area. Dressing room with 2 big closets, lots of drawes and a big counter top for about 3 suitcases. Bathroom was all in Black-marble?- and had separate shower and tub. good lighting and lots of counter space.

The breakfast room on the second floor was nice, but I don't think it was the permanent one for the building. The pool was big enough to swim laps, and had lots of lounges, but no pool service to speak of.

The hallways were very nicely decorated and quite quiet.

We couldn't get river view rooms, but i was pleased with the views of the city from our units.

The Robinson's dept store is on the bottom of the building, and there are lots of street market vendors outside. We bought tons of fresh fruits and loaded our refrigerator! Robinson's has a food market in the basement and a food court as well. Interesting neighborhood to wander.

I would definitely stay here again. I'm surprised the price remained low...we thought for sure they'd jack it up significantly after the new lobby went in.

I went by there ,out of curiosity, in August to check out the place and there was a lot of construction going on. I was shown several apartments. All of the hallways that I was in after exiting the elevator were unairconditioned. I don't know if that had to do with construction in the building or what, but it was hot. Happy Travels!

I stayed here in September, and the lobby is now finished. They are re-doing different floors each month. It was no problem to us as we were not in the room during the day when they are working. We stay here when we are in Thailand every 6 months. We get a studio room for the 2 of us, which is bigger than most hotel rooms. We like the location that is close to river taxi and skytrain and having a large grocery store next door is a real plus.

also and importantly it is located right next to the skytrain...

they also have many other properties in bkk: wireless rd is a favorite one
