Majestic Grande Sukhumvit or Centre Point Silom

Would like opinions from anyone who has stayed at either of these or has any information. Both hotels have availabities for our dates (5 nights in Feb) and are quoting a similar price (3200baht). Reviews are pretty good for both.

Thanks in advance.

The 3200baht room at the Majestic Grande is just OK. The bathroom is small and has combo Shower/Bathtub. It's worth the extra 800baht, IMO, to get book the Grand Deluxe room (separate bath/shower). The pool is quite small as well. Soundproofing was not in the spec as the sound of slamming doors down the hall is very loud (not always a problem and hopefully you get a floor with more courteous guests). Location is very good, right between the Nana BTS and Ploenchit BTS stations.

Thanks Bisbee. Might be worth getting an upgraded room.

I stayed at the Centre Point Silom in Feb. and loved it!

We had a very large 1 bedroom apartment on one of the top floors with a great view over Bangkok. Robinson Department store is at the bottom so it is very convenient for restaocking beverages and snacks.

Great location near the sky train and the river taxi.

If you type in either of these hotels in the search area you will see many more raves about CPS.

Cheers!

We stayed at Majestic Grande in Nov in a Grande Delux room and it was great for us. As bisbee said a nice big bathroom. We were there 4 nights and only heard doors once. Location very good staff lovely. Would definately stay there again. If you are leaving early ask them to make up a breakfast box for you. We didn't know about this but saw people collecting theres and they told us they got them a couple of times at no extra cost and they were very good.

Have fun

We also just stayed at the Majestic Grande in November. Was a terrific value. Kind staff greeted with juice and a constant smile. Concierge was endlessly helpful. Our room was good sized, bathroom also (Deluxe room). We heard no noise, and I am particularly sensitive to that. The staff was wonderful and breakfast was one of the better we had.

We thought that the Ploenchit BTS station was ever so slightly closer.

We would stay there again without hesitation.

I'm one of the unfortunate travelers who stayed in one of the smaller rooms at the Majestic Grande. It was nice enough, but nothing special. And although there is much to see and do along Sukhumvit Road, there is really nothing of interest on the soi on which the hotel is located. I think it would be fine for a couple nights, but since you're staying five nights, you might do better at the Cenre Point Silom.

I can't imagine choosing a single hotel room over a huge apartment at Centre Point Silom for about the same price unless the hotel room was absolutely luxurious (and even then maybe not). I LOVE all the space at Centre Point. My daughter and I were there in February (same time as eurotraveller). We thought it was a fantastic deal. It was great having all the extra space. I could get up earlier in the morning and go out in the living room and not feel like I was going to bother my daughter while she was still sleeping. And the convenience of the refrigerator was quite nice. I'd definitely stay there again. The (very large!) separate dressing room between the bedroom and bathroom was also nice. Not a biggie for a couple, but nice for singles (or Mom/daughter, in our case).

I had a walkthrough of the Majestic Grand and liked it, but get a room that's at least 40 square-meters big. The location of the hotel is good, too. Haven't been to Centre Point Silom...will ask for a walkthrough of it soon. Happy Travels!

center point had the advantage of size and more than a single room....majestic grande is newer and i think in a more convenient area, about 5 min walk from the skytrain at two stops: nana and plenochit...

both have plenty of services nearby...including supermarkets..

CP is right next to the skytrain--taskim and the river

rooms in majestic were nice but smallish in the cheaper rooms as mentioned above....

MG has a fantastic restaurant..i ate there last week in fact

Thanks for all your responses. We've reserved a room in the Majestic Grande - (the bigger room Grande Deluxe 40sq m) based on your recommendations. We're planning on doing some shopping, so hopefully this location will be convenient.
