Cebu - Mactan

Am planning on staying 1 nite @ PLantation Bay.

Then maybe 2 nites at either Maribago Bluewater, White Sands, Tambuli/Cebu Beach club, Waterfront . Wld love to read your comments.

Waterfront - is close to airport & good for afternoon departure, no rush. Also some casino fun.

Bluewater - had some bad review in 2005 but also som e better ones ones recently - has this been renovated ?

Whitesands - seems a peaceful place. Are there dinner places in Maribago besides resorts ?

How much to get meter cab to city - is it easy available?
And from city back - can we hail cab anywhere?
Which of these provide town shuttle ?

If we want a day trip to Bohol, where do we get ferry from ? Are these fix time departures or as & when boat fills up ?

Thanks.

Thanks.

We stayed in Plantation Bay, Mactan Island, Cebu. Its a wonderful resort and self-contained, with its own restaurants, pools and lots of activities to keep you from getting bored. Maribago, as I recall, is further north of Plantation Bay and seems to be a decent place. Sorry, we just had a peek on it.We had a 5-hour tour of famous sites both in Mactan and Cebu city such as the Lapu-Lapu shrine, Magellan's cross, Fort San Pedro etc. It was really nice but traffic was a bit daunting. To get to Bohol, you need to ride the ferry in Cebu and it is advisable to make a reservation (at least for 1st class, upper deck) a day in advance. Trip was about 1 hour or so. I don't know if you can do a day trip to bohol because there are only about 3-4 scheduled time of departures and just to tour the famous sites of Bohol will take you a day.

Thanks for reply.

If we need to get to other places from Plantation Bay & do not wish to use hotel's cab or there cheaper options to go about the island ?

What food is recommended at P.Bay?

Thanks again.

Yes, there are other cabs you can use in Plantation Bay BUT you have to wait for arriving guests in cabs to get THEIR cabs or have the conceirge call one for you (which may or may not be a looong wait).
Food in Plantation Bay? You can eat all kinds-italian, filipino, american, Japanese, Korean, fusion etc. They have all sorts of restaurants.

Cebu's a wonderful place, and Mactan island is really beautiful.

The beach at Maribago is really just for wading, (up to 4 feet) you will have to take a boat out to really swim and snorkel.

If money is no object, I would choose Shangrila Mactan, the facilities are excellent and the beach is beautiful.

Regarding places to eat, there is a barbecue nearby called Sutukil (thats a place where they grill fish, pork, and other seafood. This is also right beside a monument, so you will pass by this.

In the city proper (about 40 minutes by cab), there are wonderful restaurants:
1. Golden Cowrie - the best grilled seafood on this island
2. Top's = if you want a view of the city at night(its on top of a mountain)
