how is it going....where is your report???
hello to beth and the newbies....
there is a shop just off suriwong which i think is called the elephant house---they also have a place in yangon...that might be a logical place to look as most of their stuff is from burma....as you walk up from new road on suriwong it is down a soi to the left---as i remember they is a sign up high over the soi with the name on it...its in the treasurers and pleasurers if you took it with you....

Yes, try Elephant House. It's the soi that's right across Suriwongse from the old Neilson Hays Library. If you are standing in front of the library building with your BACK facing the library, then you cross the street...cross Suriwongse... to the opposite side and the soi is right there. The soi empties out into Suriwongse. The store is on the left side of the street and is several floors high and has beautiful stuff, but VERY fixed prices. They wouldn't bargain one cent down on some textiles a friend was interested in. I also collect bells...temple and cow bells. So I run around the city a lot looking for them. The Neilson Hays library is marked on Nancy Chnadler's map from what I remember. Happy Travels!

Thanks all. I went to the Elephant House and they only had a few bells of little interest. Bob, I was doing it on the fly and did not get a chance to pop into the library. Any suggestions for Chiang Mai? We're headed there tomorrow.
