Thanks Bob and Kathie. We will be coming off 3 weeks in Ethiopia, immediately followed by 7 days in Gujarat India. Plus when we arrive at BKK, we will have been traveling the entire day from Ahmedabad India. So we've decided a meet and greet is the way to go. Hopefully no muss, no fuss!

Sorry to jump in with a direct shout-out to simpsonc510, but want to say thank you for all the notes and references I've cut and pasted from your posts! We fly out of ORD on Dec 19th for BKK and, in my ready enthusiasm over your itinerary posted here, I initially thought I might be bumping into you on the same flight to pass along my thanks in person! (But, of course arriving the 20th...and actually routing through Tokyo on the outbound...Hong Kong on the return.) We are a family of four including two late-teen daughters. So the BKK shopping tips were particularly noteworthy! Spending four nights in Bangkok before flying to Krabi for a week's stay at Koh Jum Beach Villas. Stopping in Hong Kong for New Year's Eve on the return. Thank you for the terrific help and inspiration you, and numerous others, have been in planning this trip! Happy travels.
