sURE! Hello there..

tHERE are really great bookstores located all about Delhi, but a great place to go that is quite central, near both India Gate and LOdhi Gardens is called Khan Market!

This market sells a combo of clothes, shoes, food items, electronics, name brands etc, etc, but is really famous as well for it has a superb seclection of english language bookstores, too numerous to mention! I think about four or five!!!

U can just go to this market and wander about and u will come across some great book stores AND MANY other fun things too. And when u tire of browsing you can stop in for a coffee at BArrista or a snack at one of the yummy eateries.

The bookstores carry excellent collection of books on Asia, all subjects(philosphy, history, etc), travel books, fiction, non-fiction, coffee table book, and all the must read Indian novels, of course..

YOu will also find some outdoor stalls selling enlish language magazines all about too..

Also, there are several small books shops down the Janpath market strip, and around Connaught Place too and even some second hand, but i do prefer Khan Market for serious book shopping..

Enjoy, and any questions about Delhi feel free to drop me a line. I am a American living in Delhi. Namaste.

The most entertaining book "store" I found in Delhi was the market at Darya Ganj, an area a bit south of the Red Fort in Old Delhi. On Sundays, all the regular businesses are closed, and booksellers take over the sidewalk. Lots of boring computer and medical books, but also lots of odd paperbacks, posters, just about anything. If you do see something you want, bargain hard.

More on the market, and also a used book stall in Connaught Place:

Bookshops in Khan Market, New Delhi. Khan Marekt in in South Delhi, not far from the Oberoi and not far from the Qutab Minar and Haus Khauz Village area. Every taxi or car driver knows it.

Great coffee table books and large selection of fiction and non-fiction books.

Good selection of paperbacks at Rs 350-350, very nice leather-bound at Rs 550, and they will bind books in leather for you as well, this takes a day or so.

There is also a Christian bookshop in the Khan market, I can’t seem to find their card. But if you stand at the entrance to Khan Market, with the Bahri Sons in front of you , turn right and go around the corner, past the McDonalds (yes that’s right, a McDonalds) and the shop is about a third of the way down this street on the left. They have a large selction of Bibles at good prices if you are in the market for one.
Hotel bookshops are often good, although more expensive. The Sheraton and the Oberoi have good ones.

I would suggest underground store Midland book shop in South Extension (I think part I but it doesn't matter - part I and part II are just on opposite sides). Though in India I never have seen anything similar to our bookstores this one was large enough with frequent discounts.
Also I liked Teksons in Saket, and charming Fact'N'Fiction in Vasant Vihar (both in South Delhi). Definitely these bookshops have the edge over their rivals from Khan Market because of book selection.
Cheers,
