BKK Local Restaurants

Looking for some BKK restaurant suggestions geared around reasonable authentic foods (I already have a great list of hotel/high end restaurants thanks to everyone). I guess I'm looking for the real deal without getting some kind of food poisoning so hoping for tried and trusted suggestions! Also, I love Vietnamese food--is Le Dalat the best option? Thanks!

I liked Ton Pho on the river. It's definitely the real deal. Here's the info from my site.

Suda at soi 14 off Sukhumvit is one of our favourites for cheap, authentic thai food. There is an internet service opposite the restaurant which is cheap & quick.

I always ask the staff at gift shops, hotels, department stores if they have a favourite place to eat, in the area. So far has given us some gems! Good luck!

Hi
there are 2 Le Dalats, both on Sukhumvit Soi 23. The nearer one to Sukhumvit is Le Dalat Indochine which is more 'indo-chinese' dishes i.e. vientamese, cambodian etc. The one further up (simply Le Dalat) concentrates just on Vietnamese.

Suda is nice. There is a little Thai place on Sukhumvit Soi 20 called Thong Lee - it is opposite the Tamarind Cafe - which does tasty chicken.
Somboon Seafood does a great crab curry - Thai chinese seafood.
Sara Janes is consistently good for Isaan cuisine. Some great dishes are Yum Plaa Duk Foo (deep fried crispy fish bits on green mango salad), Moo Manao (grilled pork with garlic and chilli and lime), and Gai Yang (grilled chicken). Service ain't great though.
