Thailand-Bankok airport

I arrive late on a Monday at the Bankok international airport and have a 6am departure from same airport. Can I safely stay at the airport overnight?

there are short stay rooms available in the airport, but someone else can tell you about them...i think that it probably would not be a problem for you to stay there

There is also the Amari Airport Hotel that is connected to the airport. Walk in rates are cheap (I think about $45?)

Brad, the Amari Airport hotel is extrememly expensive, especially for such a mediocre facility. Expect to pay US $150-300 there. (Unless they have had a sudden change in anticipation of the new airport.)

The day rooms in the airport are inexpensive.

Kathie,
Did you try to reserve from the USA? That would explain the crazy rates. The walk in rates are much cheaper.

There are short time rooms available in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. They are situated between immigration and the airplane gates, so you don't have to enter Thailand to use these. They are officially called the Louis' Tavern Dayrooms Transit Hotel. There are 110 dayrooms in total, so they are usually available. The rooms are well furnished, comfortable, clean, air-conditioned with private bath. The rate is 1400 baht for 4 hours, 2100 for 6, 2800 for 8. Dayroom 1 is located in the Terminal 1 Transit center (2nd floor Arrival Hall). Telephone (662)535-3710, FAX (662)535-3725. Dayroom 2 is located in Terminal 2, 4th floor (take the escalator up). Telephone (662)535-3718, FAX (662)535-4324.

The cheapest I have seen the the Amari Airport Hotel is around $155 on a booking site. I can't immagine a walk in rate being cheaper - usually a lot more.

Unless things have changed dramaticallly, the walk-in rates I've seen at the Amari are very high. I try to avoid the Amari whenever I can, but had to stay there a couple of years ago. (I used a Thai booking site, perhaps sawasdee) They had signs for walk-in rates that were much more than what I paid, which was still about three times what the room was worth!

oops- posted too soon. I think I paid between US $150 and $160, so Scotters figure is the same as mine for the lowest rate I've seen. It used to be that if you were flying in and out on Thai from an international destination to a new international destination, you could get the Amari for US$99 a night. I did that once on my way from Seattle to Nepal.

You can use the rooms that Scotters has already given the info for.
Amari is well expensive, though USD 150-160 seems the going rate.
If you want a hotel nearby you have a reasonable choice between about USD 30 and 60 if you want to go out to a hotel
