how are the beaches in KL? what's the weather like in late may or early june?

There are no beaches in Kuala Lumpur, it's inland.

oh. how far is it to the nearest beach from KL? we have the chance to stopover at one of the cities in or about indonesia on our way home from bali and were wondering about KL...would love to visit some pristine beaches around that area. are there any? (we've already been to thailand and vietnam so we're looking to visit another country/area). thanks!

You might want to take a good look at a map. Kuala Lumpur is in Malaysia. As mentioned, it is inland. A short plane ride from KL would get you to a number of different Malaysian beaches. (Kuantan, Penang, etc). If you've just been in Bali, do you want another beach or a different kind of experience? What are your options for stopover cities?
