i intent to stay a few days in Sri Lanka by the beach. please advice about 5 star hotel. We prefer a nice beach, blue water clean and if possible do snorkeling. If someone can advice about, i thanks a lot.

I have heard good reviews about the Lighthouse. I have not been there. It is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, which to me is always an indication of excellent quality.

Try the Taj at Bentota Beach, I also agree the Lighthouse is good but don't have personal experience of it, the Taj is nice.

We stayed at the lighthouse for 1 week last year and it was great, the beach was beautiful, but i am not sure if the sea would be to rough for snorkeling.For our next week we moved on to saman villas again a slh, staff were very helpful, it was a great cliff setting with panoramic views of 2 beaches. i would recommend either of these hotels for a great holiday

Look up the Sun House and Dutch House on the net. The Sun House's Cinammon Suite was voted by Conde Nast Traveler as the best suite in the world in 2002. They are small boutique properties so the owners are likely to help out with your pans to snorkel. The Taj at bentota is a lovely property but not near enough the beach if that is a consideration. You could also consider Blue water at Wadduwa - check proximity to the beach as I have not stayed there. I love SL - ENJOY!
