Bangkok: Last minute questions

I'm off to Bangkok this Friday, stopping at Marriott resort & spa, i've heard the spa there is not great, is there somewhere near the hotel where we can get a good reasonable priced massage when we get there?

Also, does anyone know if the skytrain runs on New years day?

Thanks
Louisa

I cannot answer your spa question as I am not a spa person. But I can say, with 99% certainty, that the skytrain will be running on New Years Day. Enjoy your trip!

Sorry can't answer that. But you should stop by the Wat Po massage school after a tour of the Royal Palace. Traditional thai massage or if you are more comfortable, the reflexology. Have a great holiday.

There isn't much that is near the Marriott. If you want something close by, whay not call Wat Po and have them send a massuse to your room?

If you are willing to go out of your way, Face spa is delightful. Check out the website at www.facebars.com You would have to take the boat to the skytrain station, then the skytrain to Face.

there are massage places not far from the hotel but i don't think you would be happy with them....

take the boat across to near the sheraton and shangri-la and you will be pleased....

gpanda has had good luck on the floor above the gallery cafe restaurant on capt bush rd near the sheraton...

Massage-either call Wat Pho and have them send someone to your hotel (we do this all the time) or try upstairs at the Gallery Cafe. Take the Marriott boat to Taskin pier and the river ferry to Si Praya. When you exit the alley from the pier, walk straight and Gallery Cafe will be on your right before you reach Charon Kreung (New Road). You should probably call ahead.
