Hi,
It is our 25th wedding anniversary next april, we have decided to revisit Thailand.
We have been to bangkok twice before,and have stayed at the holiday inn,silom rd[ist visit] ,and the marriott [on the river]2nd time. We loved the marriott,the room,pool,gardens,breakfast were all excellant.
I have been looking up prices for our 4 night stay, and i can get 4 nights in a deluxe riverview room at both the marriott ,and the orchard sheraton[which we liked the look of last time] for the same price.
Has anyone stayed at both these hotels??, how does the sheraton compare??. anyones opinions would be welcome.

This is a hot topic on this forum. The ROS and the Marriott both have their devotees. We always stay at the ROS. Bob always stays at the marriott. The ROS is better located (much more to do in walking distance), but some have said the shuttle ride to the M is very pleasant. I've read very few negative comments on the M. Some have said the ROS is too impersonal. Both have great pools. Both have good breakfasts. I would just choose and not agonize too long.

It's no contest ROS wins hands down

Have stayed at the Marriott three times never dissapointed. Went to the ROS and walked around, the place looked very old and needs redecorating.Stayed at the Marriott, this past May and still is in good shape.

If you opt for the Sheraton, do pay the extra for a Towers room. That gets you breakfast in the Club, canapes and coctails every evening and free laundry. The rooms at the Sheraton have all be recently redone. The location is hard to beat.

What you would prefer depends on you. For me, the trip to the Marriott would become irritating, as I like to be able to stop by my hotel periodically during the day. The Marriott's location would make that difficult. Others love the fact that it is away from the city.

I've stayed in a standard room at the Royal Orchid Sheraton, but didn't like it at all. Happy Travels!

Why not consider a 1 bedroom river view apt. at Centre Point Silom. You will get a much bigger room (90-100sqms), a great location (a few minutes walk to the skytrain or ferry stops) and the advantage of having a large department store right beside you. While the pool may not be as nice as the other two hotels it is adequate and the breakfast is good. A lot cheaper at around $110 and reviews have been excellent.

I agree with the above. I would also opt for a serviced apartment as I stay in one although I haven't stayed at Centre Point Silom. But, if you go on moveandstay.com there's a whole list of buildings with photos and prices. They're all over the city. The list is great to get an idea of what you might be interested in, then negotiate with the building directly as moveandstay.com prices can be a bit high. Happy Travels!
