Baan Orapin in Chaing Mai?

We are booking at the Baan Orapin in Chaing Mai for July. I was told they only have one bedroom suites available (which is fine by me). Does anyone know the difference between the "front building" and the "back building"? The front building is cheaper... is there much of a difference

The back building is newer and supposedly a bit more "deluxe". It is also farther from the street. I stayed in the back and loved it but many many others have stayed in the front and had great experiences. According to Opas they learned some things when they built the first building which improved the second one.

I was in the front building at the same time Gloria was in the back. We loved our stay and if we didn't have a choice would stay in the front again, but if we had a choice we would choose the back. Quieter and it gets more light. The front building has pretty dim light at all times of day.

Inspiration, it appears to me that you might work for the website that you reference in every one of your posts. If so, please don't post here. Fodors prohibits advertising. One of the things that makes this website so valuable is that the recommendations are from other traverls who do not have a financial interest in their recommendations.

The poster is not looking for recommendations. The question is about B.O.
I agree with Kathie. It was an inapproprite answer by Inspiration.

For the money, I would stay in the front building. We checked both and decided on the cheaper suite. We noticed no noise at night. It is true that the front building has more shade therefore less light. Be careful on the bridge it can be slippery at night

We stayed in a suite in the front building in Feb but we were able to take a look at two units in the new building. Although the new building has nice units we loved our unit in the old building and would stay there again.

We didn't notice any noise but the German guy that stayed in the unit closest to the road said he was very aware of the traffic.

Opas and everyone at Baan Orapin are very wonderful hosts!

The location is perfect. I would not want to stay on the other side of the river.

Enjoy your trip!
